Yesterday the NHS 10 year plan was published.

Proposals to make healthcare local & preventative are welcome, as are plans to make eye care more accessible.

But it comes without a much needed social care plan & there is no distinct policy for people with learning disabilities, unlike past plans.

Without a proper plan for recruitment & retention of the social care workforce, announcements like this just put more pressure, worry and concern on a struggling sector.

There are 131,000 vacancies in social care – almost 10% of the workforce. Overseas workers are vital.

In 2021 we worked with parents & @england.nhs.uk on an eye care guide for parents of children with learning disabilities and autism.

Children with learning disabilities are 28x more likely to have a sight problem, so this helps them access the eye care they need www.seeability.org/resources/pa...
