I remember learning about Fauja Singh from his book, which we put in our school library. Great message about determination, positive mindset and inclusion!

Finished reading That Librarian by @librarianjones.com! It is a must-read for folks who are against malicious book bans and censorship by entities who are attacking our libraries & librarians. 📚

Even though it is early in the year, it will most likely be in my top 5 books of the year.

Really hate that this is what we have to do, but it’s exactly what we have to do now.

That’s why the role is called Teacher-Librarian!

Teacher first,
then upgraded
to Teacher-Librarian.

Doubly skilled.

Even when I appear to be only librarianing, I’m still also teaching. Everything I do is teaching…and librarianing.

What’s their superpower?

(I’d celebrate it w/out degrading it.)
A non-teacher adult stopped in the library between classes today -

Her: “You should be a teacher! That lesson was so interesting, and you were so engaging with the students!”

Me: “Thanks. I taught English for 24 years before this.”

I was so happy when this Superintendent’s Report was issued in response to rising hate movements in our community. Cdn case law was clear on the correct course for our public, secular schools.

(Though I’m aware vigilance is need lest good laws be eroded.)

Last week I said I had something fun in the hopper —well — thrilled to share that I will be “guest PA announcer” tomorrow at the Canucks game at Rogers Arena for #InternationalWomensDay — honouring #WomenInSport it’s going to be so cool. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

A good idea for rapid advocacy on the fly when needed. Reviews, etc collated for current commonly banned books.

Let’s do a friendly inter district competition this year! Create practice questions or a kahoot for each other?
Life has been busy, so I got a late start on the Reading Link Competition promo. Yet, at the lunch meeting just now, we had 10 hardcore reader kids show up—ones that are very likely to actually finish all the books.

This is what leadership looks like. I’m very happy to be an educator in a province in which our school board amplifies these inclusive education statements.
