Ooof. Right in the feels. Lost a beloved cat 2 years ago and there’s still an aching gap where Charlie should be. I miss him terribly. A lovely piece of writing. Thank you

Mmmm… I felt the same way about rails in the snowpark. Thought I‘d try them out. Harder than it looks and fell hard on my hip. I was astonished by how much it hurt. Skate parks, snowboard halfpipes, and so on are a young person’s game I fear. That or wear hockey pads! 🏒

She sounds amazing. Your reminiscence makes me think of my mum who emigrated to the UK as an Irish kid, then on to Canada in her 20s with her man. She loved Halloween. Maybe there’s something about being brought up with spirits/ saints? Thank you for a happy vibe. Missing you, mum. Hope you’re good

Hey, as someone who’s been made redundant three times in 20 years (and at one point, twice in three years) anything that helps people get past what can be a sad, even shattering event, I can only see as a good thing. We may not be the target audience but this title suggests positivity to me. YMMV

This was a harrowing, captivating read. I can’t think of much I’ve read this year that has hit me this hard. I’d heard the phrase but had zero insight into ‘the culture’. Kudos to Daniel Kolitz for finding a glimmer of hope at the close. But still, a brutally depressing read

While Israel’s conduct has been unconscionable we should not lose sight of the fact that Hamas are monsters. Don’t paint them as the good guys

I was fascinated by the news this morning about nanoparticles curing Alzheimer’s in mice. Exciting times!

Everyone wants palm oil out of the supply chain. Third generation municipal solid waste derived fuels are just coming on stream now. Treating all biofuels as the same is intellectually dishonest.

Heresy perhaps for someone Lib Dem aligned but I’m concerned that an overfocus on casework distracts from an MP’s primary function as a legislator. MPs aren’t and should be super social workers. Parliament should properly fund local government and Citizens Advice, leaving MPs to do their actual job

I‘m angrier than that with Corbyn. His mulish 70s dogmatism about the EU (“banker’s union; boss’s union”) was a causal factor for Brexit. It’s not been that since Maastricht but his refusal to recognise that the world can change enabled Cummings and Farage; a useful idiot. He’s made us all poorer

Adorable but I want to get a kitten at the minute. Literally my first reaction on seeing this was “that cat is going to scratch the hell out of that sofa”. #MiddleAgeBrain

Reconnaissance denial. Russia has serious satellite reconnaissance capability which it uses for Shahed and Kalibur targeting. Stop them repositioning those assets or even talking to them altogether and Ukrainian energy infrastructure lives to fight another day

Huh. Both Dan Savage and Nate Silver have resurfaced on Bluesky in recent days. Both names I’ve not thought about in years. Both seemingly having been rather left behind in terms of their insight and relevance. Sic transit gloria mundi I guess
