We didn’t have personal locator beacons, we had two EPIRBS per team of four.

They’re suitable for maritime, land or air use: beacons.amsa.gov.au/about/beacon...

Probably their longer battery life was a requirement for our situation, so we had to carry them despite being bigger/heavier.

We used to use them for certain orienteering races, so they not just for yachts. Anything where you might conceivably need an emergency rescue with no good way of explaining your location.
The water-activation has to be turned on.

58% also express concern about discrimination or harassment faced by Chinese-Australians when tensions with the PRC rise.
(16% say they’re not concerned while 25% aren’t sure)

70% support closer relations with ASEAN to balance the PRC. 75% say the same for the Pacific.

For instance, 70% agree that we should cooperate with the PRC on issues like climate change & green steel even if there are political tensions in bilateral relations.

And 80% say their views of the PRC government aren't related to their views of Chinese-Australians.

Generally, I'd characterise the results as very aware of risks & willing to stand up for our friends & neighbours, but also willing to manage the risks so that we can get on with business
(and totally separating views of PRC-relations from views of Chinese people - especially Chinese-Australians)

Just wait for exchange collapses. Then people will suddenly work out what deposit guarantees are, and what it means not to have them.

Seems like the instructions are to leave the lid down while using the toilet 🤔

“In a move likely to anger Beijing…”

This kind of obeying in advance went out of fashion over a decade ago.

If you think your values don’t permit banning Nazis as a political entity, you either don’t understand your values or your values are wrong.
All decent worldviews have space for banning Nazis.

A prize doesn't have to be determined by the government, but when I said "more American" I meant relative to public broadcasting (that was clear from the way I structured my comment).

I'm sorry to have found someone who replies in quote tweets. I won't keep engaging.
