The US and UK both opted out of the EU’s AI Safety Summit on regulating amongst other things, surveillance, cloud data, scientific research, financial services, and environmental impacts of AI.

When this recent wave of right wing activity started a few weeks ago, the government could have come straight out and said the people behind it were fascists trying to utilise people’s concerns about immigration and sense of patriotism to cause intimidation and division.
