Infant botulism often starts with constipation, but is usually first noticed as difficulty feeding (sucking and swallowing), a weak and altered cry, and loss of muscle tone.

Infant #botulism happens when swallowed spores from a type of bacteria called Clostridium botulinum infects a baby's large intestine and make toxin in it.

In Washington, SNAP is also called Basic Food or Food Stamps. Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) receives funds from USDA for SNAP and SNAP-Ed. Currently, DSHS partners with us to provide SNAP-Ed across Washington.

+ Drink only pasteurized (not raw) milk, milk products and fruit juices.
+ Do not eat raw beef or raw or under-cooked hamburger or other ground meat products.
+ Keep ready-to-eat foods (i.e., raw vegetables) away from raw meat.

This estimate is based on current WIC redemption rates. If redemption rates increase, available funding may run out sooner.
