Gamedev/studio founder on self-imposed exile for now. Prev: Blizzard, Proletariat, Zynga, Harmonix, Turbine. Opinions are NOT my own.
I like that this can also be interpreted as a Groening-style illustration and it works just as well.

AFAIK the latter is a screenshot of Grok's reply to a random user that asked it to write an apology. I just mention because it's somewhat misleading to imply it's a "real" official statement (though the distinction is still pretty muddy -- only themselves to blame for that!)

Was still salvageable even with the Supreme Court immunity decision.

Among the many lasting consequences, many career officials in DOJ/FBI now fired simply for being tasked with the case. The DOJ effectively ruined because Garland prioritized optics over justice.

Oh you’re into being jolly and spreading cheer, surrounded by loved ones? You uncultured simpleton. You absolute moron.

I stand by The Marvels still being great despite being late-stage MCU tho.

To be clear, not trying to fight or dunk on you at all; I know that’s a rarity with this topic lol. There are just a lot of facets here, and I def have interest in it given my/my wife’s roles in the industry (engineer/designer and artist, respectively).
✌️ Happy holidays!

And what’s the goal of the litmus test? To punish fellow devs in the industry, who may be operating under a mandate or unrealistic schedules?
I dunno. I’m just not as fearful of AI slop being commercially viable, and I don’t like purity tests disparaging legitimately great creative works.

Yeah using “genAI” to for final in-game text/assets seems clear-cut. But does having a chatbot convo to get advice on a production issue count? Using LLM-driven search of your internal wiki? Reading an AI-generated Google search result? Meeting transcriptions? Background of an exec’s PowerPoint?

Some of these avoid any training data that was involuntarily used. Some of them are doing things that are impossible with human labor. Some of them use the known large LLMs but in fairly innocuous context.

All this is to say, I think the article’s premise is totally fair.

Not really, and will get muddier! E.g. models built to simulate musculature/cloth deformation based on body pose is the same tech. Same with models for more realistic character locomotion or interaction in dynamic spaces. Texture up-rez. Auto-transcription/summaries of meetings. Google searches!

Someone born the year the Voting Rights Act was passed would’ve turned 18 the year Trading Places came out, and turned 60 this year.
