I read that the remake completely waters down the extremely clear theme of child abuse the book and the first movie had and that is very true. Another "let's slap a recognizable name and nostalgia on a generic movie to make an investment back"...

Therapy helped me deal with many such issues but there are still some left. I cannot accept compliments if I don't agree, it reminds me too much of my mother praising me to the heavens when in a good mood for stuff objectively mid and completely tearing me down when in a bad mood. No consistency.
