PlayStation Q2 2025 results. For two quarters in a row now physical revenue and units sold are up compared to the same period in 2024. Despite the physical units split dropping 2 % to 28 %. Physical revenue was 229 million USD in Q2. Sounds like physical is very much alive.

Nintendo wants to be DoesItPlay. They launched a website to check SW2 BC compatibility of SW1 games. Sadly, it completely ignores unpatched and offline playability. Blocked cards like Mario Wonder, Mario Kart or Mario Galaxy are listed as "Supported" and "consistent behavior".

People still claim that game-key cards are no different to other games since you still need to put the card in. They all overlook the fundamental advantage of actual physical releases: Having the game files on the medium, available anytime at your convenience. Unbeatable!

As reported by Retro Dodo, PCSX2, famous PS2 emulator, now runs almost every PS2 game. We need proper legal backing now. If companies let the ESA hunt archivists and want to replace games with remakes, let us legally preserve the OGs you don't care about at least.
