This is from the first artist and some of these labels are also questionable...
Birds have bird shapes, don't think about it too much.

We’re snailposting, post your snails!
An oil painting, and a photo I took.

Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis)
6x9" watercolor and gouache painting

Trying to sketch with gouache more, because I currently find it really frustrating to use...
Not sure if anyone's tired of seeing rhinos, but I'm not :]

Fuck 🖕ai

My drawing skills were okay then but I literally had no idea what I was doing with paint.

White Rhinoceros mud bath
Another with powdered graphite. Quickly sketched with pencil, with all of the tones applied with a sponge for smooth marks, crumpled tissue for some grass texture, highlights with an eraser. Basically practicing laying out a scene relatively quickly without too much detail.

For a suggestion, the creature designs from The Croods are very fun and I basically have never seen them drawn.

Closeup
I always like the critter pokemon best, but for some reason I'm really fond of Sinistea/Polteageist.

Forest study with graphite powder and pencil. It's funny that, in a way, I never really gave graphite a proper chance since I love color so much. Incorporating the powder actually makes it much more enjoyable to me, as it's starts almost like a painting.

Cat Skull
Charcoal on paper. After the initial drawing the shading was mostly made by smudging charcoal powder, and the highlights were done with kneaded eraser.

I don't think I'll get tired of painting mushrooms and forest detritus.

This little guy is still available 🍂

I'm not much of a water painter, maybe these? All taken in northern Maine.

Gotta love these tiny guys! Awesome sculpt.
These are two I found, compared to notebook paper and a quarter.

I tend to be out of the loop with well known artists, and I've only recently seen the wildlife art of Bob Kuhn. Incredible color and simplicity while still displaying a strong knowledge of the subjects.

Lol she would fit right in as part of one of those slightly off old paintings

I love finding solitary mossy rocks like this, I always want to paint them with something sitting on top. Feel free to use this as an art reference, if you do I'd love to see.

Process (2)
For the brightest lights I used white charcoal pencil, and for the reflected light in the shadows I mixed the white and black charcoal which gives it a comparatively cool tone compared to the paper. (The paper color got pretty washed out in the WIP photos)
