Morrowind Vivec has these really wide, expressive eyes, he looks like he's always a little pleasently surprised at whatever's happening. (And it's a fairly deliberate design choice imo, it's not like there aren't plenty of scowly hard-faced dark elves in Morrowind.)

Pretty much, like - 3e was intentionally designed so that some options were better than others, and that the gulf between a 'good' character and a 'bad' one was pretty large, and the play culture at the time I think sort of reflected that.
