I have rather too many opinions about this 😂 We can email if you like. One quick point is that Karl & Robinson's paper is good, but needs a lot of musical literacy to follow. I lectured on it, and played a clip, but did not force students to read the paper.

The idea is that each science fiction story tests one of the major theories about what we are. Featuring authors like @gregegansf.bsky.social @jrdawson.bsky.social and @adelaidesean.bsky.social they are all accompanied by philosophical commentaries on the implications.

Very interesting Tim. The older I get, the more I find myself drawn to these metaphilosophical issues about what exactly we're up to. Meanwhile, institutional factors rather force me to explain why philosophy might be useful to my colleagues in other disciplines.
