Channeling my Canadian lineage to root on the Jays! My mom and her brother, Norm, used to have a bet about who would buy wings when we would visit in August: he bought them if the Jays were behind in the standings, we bought them if the Jays were ahead. He RARELY bought the wings.

Coming out of hibernation to say I'm really loving how Wisconsin is making Maryland look like a top-25 team. #terps

A post by the great Derek Lowe where he talks about the unnatural (+)-enantiomers of opioids with a link to Kenner Rice's NIH Opiate Total Synthesis. I rarely comment on blog posts, but I couldn't help myself.

Milwaukee man run over in a hit-and-run. His comment, "I've seen better days," is probably the most Wisconsin thing I've read in months.

Watching this Michigan-Auburn game, I just don't see how either of these teams are legitimate contenders.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good joke at politicians' expense, but I'm seeing a lot of articles that call Trump's "transgender mice" comment last night a "slip-up" for *transgenic* mice. This was not some slip of the tongue, he used this as a gotcha moment to attack science.

Hoping that this is just a hallucination from my last week of norovirus hell. My (not-that-kind-of-doctor) recommendation is to consider this vaccination if appropriate ASAP (don't sleep on the alt text 😉). x.com/newstart_202...

Talk about taking a sledgehammer to swat a fly...this slashes indirect cost rates to 15%. For many research-intensive schools, we might be talking about a cut of 40-50%. This threatens thousands of jobs. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

HR 27 (HALT Fentanyl Act) passes the House; why is that important? This little bit right here: ensure access to fentanyl-related products by researchers. I helped make this happen!

Exercise and spirits tracker update: last week, I solicited ideas for how to track my goals. Week 1 was rats; @donna-jane.bsky.social suggested hearts. Not one to back down from a challenge, I give you...hearts! Friends, what should I draw next week?
