Everything I knew about Final Fantasy XVI was telling me I wouldn't like it: no party members, real-time action, and it was being made by the XIV team so it was probably in that "single-player MMO" style. Ended up *completely* thrown by how much I enjoyed the story and characters

Again, there's some willful misreading here: she wasn't "told by Charles Xavier that she was going to a school". Storm told her who the X-Men were before the team even got attacked. Kitty saved them. Jean altering her parents' minds was very clearly a red flag, not Xavier-approved.

I mean, if Ewing wants to rewrite that story, that's her prerogative, but until she actually does that, it comes off as a bit of willful misinterpretation on her part
