Met a fed friend at the protests yesterday that got laid off. Was 100% grant funded. Hadn’t cost the taxpayers a penny.

These are OUR employees that are being terminated. OUR work that isn’t being done.

OUR nation being totally dismantled.

When I began my career in government in 2012, my supervisor was clear: We serve the public. We are public servants. We serve our community and our nation.

That meant something to me. It means something to all of us that choose this life path.

Government employees follow strict conflict of interest laws. If their job ends, many federal employees are not allowed to take a job with a company/organization that they worked with as a fed for TWO YEARS after leaving. For those in niche fields, that rules out almost all local employers.

Today in local government sustainability, we discussed whether new hybrid and EV technology means our travel policy needs update to be more cost effective.

Sustainability isn’t tree hugging. It’s about new ideas, new technology, and reading through pages of boring policy documents from 2011.
