The pro-birth movements in various countries (including the U.S.) bring into sharp relief the contradiction between capitalism and human survival. The planet clearly needs fewer people, not more, but capitalism relies on perpetually increasing population to generate perpetually increasing profit.

Meanwhile, John Roberts is merrily enabling fascism in his efforts to avoid a “constitutional crisis.” Uh, John, a President who sets himself above the law IS a constitutional crisis.

Here in Wisconsin we’re having the most expensive State Supreme Court election ever. Is getting 27 glossy mailings really that much more persuasive than, say, getting 10 glossy mailings? Ditto TV and online ads, radio spots, etc. There must be diminishing returns…

So, as another grotesquely amusing example of Trump’s utter stupidity: If we eliminate birthright citizenship AND we require everyone who votes to prove they are U.S. citizens, exactly how does he think all the people who voted for him are going to prove they are U.S. citizens?

NYT has produced a summary of the major long-term “natural” global warming processes that--once human greenhouse emissions set them in motion—would be almost impossible to stop.

Earth’s warming could trigger sweeping changes in the natural world that would be hard, if not impossible, to reverse.

Great idea. We can bring 2 million Palestinians to the U.S. to replace 2 million of the essential workers we deport!
