PNW transplant in CH. Eurovision, urbanism, (mono)skiing. EN/FR/ES/DE/MK
Not sure what vpn y’all trying to use on Apple TV but Nord works just fine as an app on mine. French and British broadcasts no issue. No jailbreaking required.

I believe Sven speaks all three languages but him commenting in each of them feels it would be a throwback to some of the contests in the 60s where every word from the host was in French, English and host language.

Recognising the pedantism, but Sven Epiney is the commentator for the German-language broadcast of ESC. The French and Italian broadcasts have separate commentary.

In CH we already have super high fuel prices, but once you have enough money it just doesn’t matter. Geneva has some of the highest concentrations of Land Rover ownership anywhere.

Would argue that an income-indexed system would be far more equitable. Geneva recently went towards an emission centred formula for vehicle registration. Great in theory, but not when you have minivans from the 90s that cost 4500chf to register annually vs new Teslas that cost 200chf.

As soon as you verge into car-only spaces though, the entitlement in DE really comes out. Worst tailgaters in Europe.

Inner/outer circles at Sandpoint country club would be great if you could get in.

As a former Seattleite, I feel like the equivalent story would have a hell and brimstone headline hand-written by any of the neighborhood or downtown chambers, or perhaps by a community council. Not a chance that @seattledot.bsky.social would get quoted first and car lobby only after the fold.

Thank you so much for the clarification! Fingers crossed they update the code soon. Moved from a single to a multiple aspect last year and it’s amazing how much easier it is to keep things cool with a crossbreeze. So much more rare when you have to have a central hallway

I can see how that makes sense if the building is wood frame but am I correct in assuming there’s no alternatives for construction with fire resistant materials like concrete and masonry?

Can you explain direct suite access from landing? It just seems so intuitive to me that I can’t envision why you wouldn’t have this and why it would have been outlawed in code to begin with. (Tried googling but I don’t have the vocab to get helpful results)

The only city in Europe I can think of that is both car free and “decadent amusement park for foreigners” is Venice. And I think it’s kind of obvious why no cars there.

Certainly better than driving in Lyon. Absolutely crazy engineering happening there. Signage either nonexistent, way too late, or wayyy too much information crammed on one sign to be able to process.

I think it depends on what kind of pets and in which circumstances? We regularly have dogs and cats on our public transit here in Geneva. Have to pay an additional reduced fare once you can’t carry the animal, but much cheaper than driving and then finding parking.
