It really should be the case though that the editorial board should require anything stated as fact in an opinion piece to be verifiable. The opinion part should be “here’s what I think this means” rather than “here’s something totally made up that makes me mad”

It would be very funny if there was a “correct takes” score next to every NYT op-ed writer’s name. Like, out of every time they’ve made a prediction that was actually testable and quantifiable, have people like RD and David Brooks ever been correct?

There’s been a few I’ve read recently where I just felt really bad for the author. Their work deserves better.

And of course I also became a parent, making the ambiguous villains of the story much darker. All in all - great books that have only improved with age.
