Still imagining dragons, nobody told me to stop.
Are you thinking the old tweets have sundered the chances of a victory for “Emilia Perez” then? A movie I thought was pretty good, but definitely wasn’t the best picture of the year.

That IS the best part because I can just tell people I ate some m&ms when I get back from the circus.

Seems like he slipped some of the worst lyrics of all time into both hits, I just heard about the soy latte thing.

The part that hurts is the idea that someone can be plussed in the first place. Check and see if he’s plussed!
February 8, 2025 at 3:55 AM
I tried to explain this concept. This guy will just spam you with replies and hurl abuse until you block or mute him.

He’s obviously got something going on he’s posted like 300 times in the past 36 hours. Even this response of mine will likely get a torrent of incel energy, thankfully he’s muted.
February 8, 2025 at 3:47 AM
Yeah, I had to mute him because of all the spamming and rage.

I’m sure it’s all really kind and not unhinged at all. I hope someone in his life reaches out and helps him soon because it all got very manifesto-ey before the mute.

It took me a little back and forth and a profile click to figure out I was talking to someone going through some sort of manic episode. 200 replies in like 27 hours or something insane like that. I wish Bluesky had a feature to somehow do a wellness check on someone when you come across this.
February 7, 2025 at 9:45 PM
The yikes was that I hadn’t clicked on your profile yet and realized you’ve posted 136 times in the last day, and my reality shifted from a “having a conversation about the state of the Weimar Republic in 1933” to “you’re talking to someone in the midst of a manic episode, maybe stop.”

Sounds good man

Yikes

I didn’t say that, but I guess I expected too much of you here. Have a good night 👍
February 7, 2025 at 9:55 AM
Yeah but you say that like it’s a bad thing, pop that sucker in your headphones on a walk down the street and you ARE that independent women and you WILL make it.
February 7, 2025 at 9:52 AM
Maybe not, but you can see how your original response to that guy lacked an important level of nuance and context that we should be keeping in mind in this current authoritarian takeover/information heist or whatever it is that’s going on. The gametape is important to interpret correctly.
February 7, 2025 at 9:46 AM
But even if we are talking about what you just referenced, it still rebuffs your original statement to this fella, since the quotes you just shared clearly state voters didn’t stop Nazis because they had guns to their head.
February 7, 2025 at 9:41 AM
Yeah, I mean those clearly weren’t democratic elections since people did it in fear for their safety. I assumed we were talking about the only actual parallel which was the previous vote before that.

But realistically the major, and quite unlikely, events that took place to put them in a position to rule the country in the fascist and authoritative way that they did happened inside government.
February 7, 2025 at 9:35 AM
Eh, I mean in the sense that they had a foothold in the reichstag in the first place, but post WWI Germany was in a very vulnerable place, so I don’t know if I lay blame at the feet of the people in the same way that one could in the situation we’re in now.

This is a helpful *quick* resource:

But if you want to go into more detail I recommend William Shirer’s “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” this is covered pretty extensively, and Shirer was a reporter during the war, it’s a good read.

German People and effectively ended the democracy and declared a state of emergency. It really didn’t have anything to do with voting.
February 7, 2025 at 9:23 AM
No they literally set the building on fire because two parties had formed a coalition government to keep them from the majority. They blamed the communists and sent the country into a panic. They weren’t the party in power yet. Then Hindenburg signed the Emergency Decree for the Protection of the
