In a few decades, what will be left of the data we’ve generated on social media this century? Will it be missed? The answer to both questions is most likely “not much.”

Funko's rise, ubiquity, and fall always felt like a metaphor for the entire fandom economy of the past 20 years.

Not a fan of the November erasure agenda of all the Xmas house displays up already. OTOH, big fan of the folks who still have Halloween out.

A sumptuous feast of daylight and confident neo-soul from the criminally underrated Yazmin Lacey. Great songs, expansive production, and Yazmin’s beautiful, grounded voice. Adult listening.

Don't assume that these US flight delays will only get longer; they could be fluid. My wife's flight tonight was initially delayed about 3 hours this morning, but the departure has been steadily getting earlier since then. We'll see if it holds up.

Maybe if we let tech companies think they invented it, we could get episodic television back.

“It’s called… a micro-arc, an entire season’s plot-line distilled down into one episode.”
“This will revolutionize how television gets made. Imagine the same characters but… in different situations!!!”

A clever variation on Noirvember, with a premium on paranoia, confusion, and guilt. A feast for fans of evasive cinematic showing and telling, all in glorious black & white.

Great ep of @ouropinions.bsky.social on the logistics and community building aspects of SF and SF-adjacent fan conventions. A lot to ponder here that applies to events and gatherings of all kinds, esp those that rely on volunteer labor (eg, academic conferences).
