How come when I’m winding down and going to YouTube to relax, I have to search and search for something interesting - but when I’m in the middle of a project and go there just to look something up, there are like a thousand fascinating videos that I need to watch right now?

In ‘Giant,’ Bick Benedict sort of loosely learns why it’s bad to be a colonizing racist. But then he calls his mixed-race grandchild a slur in the final scene, and it has this uplifting tone like, “oh how we’ve grown!” What is the aim here? The movie wants me to feel good, but I really don’t.

I needed something light after the LoTR trilogy, so I read this fantasy/sci-fi dime novel about a barbarian and his mystic cat man servant. So poorly written… but so pulpy and fun! Exactly what I wanted.

I watched Forrest Gump all the time as a kid. I know almost every word. But I never picked up on the presidential assassination motif. It uses those news clips almost like chapter markers in history. So interesting. I love rewatching old favorites as an adult.
