At this side event, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime #UNODC will present its new issue paper on surveillance and law enforcement concerning high seas MPAs, written by Efthymios Papastavridis and @atzanakopoulos.bsky.social (and @franciscoblaha.bsky.social drafted large parts of s2). 3/6

As States prepare for the entry into force of the Agreement under #UNCLOS on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement), ensuring that Marine Protected Areas #MPAs are effectively managed & enforced will be crucial. 2/6
