Saw King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard play an analogue synth heavy ‘rave’ set at Federation Square in Melbourne last night! It was bloody good, and I’m even more looking forward to forward to seeing them twice at the Music Bowl in December now!

I first heard that song on this DVD and it blew my mind. I probably bought the DVD from Ballarat Records and Tapes after seeing The Hives at Falls.

North Terrace ‘leadership’ in FO phase of FAFO (again)

Football Australia has taken the decision to collectively ban the North Terrace leadership and it's core group for two (2) years.

No evidence was provided for these banning orders.

Because of the absence of evidence, every person received an identical banning notice.

This is not in line with impartial governance of football in Australia.

The North Terrace has been an institution at Melbourne Victory for 20 years and is the largest supporter group in Australia by a wide margin.

As it stands, organised support in the stadium is NOW OVER until 2027 unless corrective action is taken.

Decisions made, will have serious effects.

NT leadership and MVFC management have both challenged against collective punishment over the past seasons.

This is now where it counts the most.

Melbourne Victory must back it's own fans against this decision to serve indiscriminate and unjust banning orders.

More information will be released soon.

The North Terrace is not going anywhere, and will continue to organise, plan, and take action where necessary.

Gout was only told he had broken the 10-second mark by media immediately after the race. He let out an “oh” in surprise, but quickly regained his composure and said he was just focused on recovery and preparation for the final

On Monday, Herald Sun journalist Ben Higgins broke the story involving a banned Victory supporter who took part in the disgraceful Derby pitch invasion in 2022, who allegedly hurled homophobic slurs at players during the NPL encounter in Shepparton.

The supporter in question is serving a life ban, but Victory confirmed that due to safety concerns for spectators and staff, he was not removed.

I’ve just sent the following email to the Melbourne Victory Football Club in response to their handling of the Pride Cup on Saturday. I also CCd Caroline Carnegie.

Dear Melbourne Victory Football Club,

I am writing to you today, as an LGBTQIA+ Ally to express my disappointment on how this past weekend's Pride Cup was handled.

I have held a family Country/Interstate membership for over 10 years, travelling from Ballarat to attend matches as often as possible. Last year we travelled to Adelaide as a family to attend our first interstate match, which also happened to be the Pride Cup. We had a fantastic weekend, and I was impressed with how the club officials managed us away supporters. However, it was marred by an incident after the match where a small group of men started a disgusting chant targeted at Josh Cavallo as we were leaving the stadium. I confronted these men (twice) and told them that this sort of thing was not ok. They stopped after the second confrontation.

This is why Pride Cup is important.

When it was announced that Victory would be hosting this year’s Pride Cup, I was proud that the club I follow was supporting this initiative again. This pride was quickly followed by disappointment as I read the number of disgusting comments in reply to the social media posts. While these opinions are unfortunately not unexpected, the seeming lack of moderation on the posts was unexpected, and is unacceptable.

Again, this is why Pride Cup is important.

The disappointment continued when social media posts from the club ceased promoting Pride Cup and instead began using ‘Original Rivalry’ branding. From how I and many others viewed it this appeared to be a complete capitulation to the homophobes.

Two years ago, Melbourne Victory had the fantastic Pride Kit, and while only having a pre-match shirt last year was a let down at least it was something. For the men’s side to not even have the same rainbow numbers as the women’s side this year was totally unacceptable. Claiming that they never asked for them just doesn’t cut it.

The Melbourne Victory website states that it has an ‘obligation to ensure football is accessible and empowering to all’, and ‘where all people are welcome and all people belong’. On the same page the club claims they will ‘support representatives of LGBTI+ communities in breaking down cultural barriers and making football a safe environment for all’. The clubs handling of Pride Cup so far calls into question your commitment to your own Purpose and Strategic Priorities.

Shortly before arriving at the stadium on Saturday, I heard that the North Terrace ‘leadership’ were boycotting the match and travelling to Shepparton instead. How can the Melbourne Victory Football Club continue to work with this homophobic ‘leadership’ while claiming to be ‘the club for all Victorians’ and striving to meet its Purpose and Strategic Priorities? How can LGBTQIA+ people, their friends and their families feel welcome and that they belong at matches knowing that the people leading the chants in the North Terrace hold homophobic views, and the club supports them?

The events leading up to and on Saturday have saddened and disappointed me, leading me to question my support of the club. I hope to see a positive response from the club, as well as a commitment to do better.

Made up these chunky Hungarian salami today. Used the 75mm Banquet Bag salami cases this time. A few days fermenting, 6-8 weeks drying in the fridge then they’ll be ready for eating!
