It was a trainwreck. Venue's fault for not warning me and not informing them about what I do, but also corporate event organizer's fault, if they had so many requests, why didn't they call a jukebox DJ instead of leaving it up to the venue that has always enforced a specific musical style?

After 2 and a half hours of this I texted the manager to bring a cable and let them plug in their mobiles cause I was spending more time saying "I don't have that" than mixing. He apologised and told me he loved the set. That's great, but don't call me again for these events 😑

At one point one guest asked me if I could play "commercial music that everyone knows" to which I replied "I'm afraid this is what I do" and she responded "oh, well I guess we'll never call you again then". - oh no, my heart bleeds 😂

Requests ranged from Despacito to Bon Jovi's Living On A Prayer, to Britney Spears, to music for group dances and anything else you can think of which is as far removed from funk, disco and house as you can imagine.

I was literally bombarded with requests before I had even put the needle down on the first record, and this went on for more than 2 hours with no respite and zero understanding of what spinning with a record bag entailed or what a clubbing experience is.
