Recently had the worst DJing experience of my life. One of my fave venues asked me to spin at a 'private party' but failed to mention it was a corporate gig. I went with mostly vinyl and a limited amount of digital tracks on usb...cue in doomsday music...😣

Which makes sense since mags and even sites are all asking for money to feature releases. Of course it would have to be positive or they'd want their $ back. Which begs the question.... why would anyone keep on reading media that is evidently selling out and has become an ad?
Does music journalism still exist? Or has it been sold to the highest bidder? I haven't read anything even remotely critical of an album or single in ages.

I only just heard that Gwen McCrae has passed away. She was so massively influential to funk, soul AND disco, and so many of her tracks sound fresh to this day, including my favorite, "Keep The Fire Burning", which no amount of re-edits can ever surpass. RIP Gwen
