One of the most important lessons in dog training? Empathy.

Your dog isn’t barking to annoy you. They’re not reacting to embarrass you. Their behavior meets a need.

Take a moment to see the world through their eyes. No judgment—just understanding. A little empathy can go a long way. 💙 #DogTraining

Hey, I've written an essay on two recent articles that seem to whitewash abusive dog training practices, and on one of their coauthors. You should go read it!

On our way out for a snowy walk, Echo refused paw wax for his front feet.

I backed off, and we headed out, though I was worried about both his pads and the consequences of reinforcing him (via the walk) for refusing to give me his paw.

When we returned home, I asked for his paw again to wipe clean

Fresh groom!

Echo has trouble staying out more than a few minutes once the temp falls significantly below freezing, so we’re trying clean paws this month.

Here’s hoping they make wearing boots easier, or at least decrease the surface area that snow and salt can stick to ❄️
