I would strongly put the blame on prevalent, subconscious reductionist thinking. More systems thinking (in general) the community starts to become, more interdisciplinary we'll see.

Perplexity works better in this sense. It even provides citations (not made up as chatgpt) for any scientific query as well.

Yeah..but fast production of papers i.e. being prolific is so much promoted/looked for. Also which is dependent on funding.
