On Achill, the weather went from terrible to beautiful and we were able to hear from one of the last shark hunters, see beautiful sights, and hear beautiful music. Go raibh míle maith agaibh to everyone who made this conference so special 💙🦈

This Earth Day feels...a little more depressing as usual. So let me share one of my most prized possessions. A poster my mom saved from the very first Earth Day. People have been fighting the good fight for a long time and there's been a lot of wins among the losses. #EarthDay

I was quoted in the AFP yesterday at the stand up for science rally about the attacks on the federal cuts and their impact on me, an early career researcher. #SaveNOAA #standupforscience2025
Chelsea Gray, a 34-year-old environmental scientist working on shark preservation, had dreamed of working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, one of the federal agencies under particular threat over its climate research. Instead, she has begun the process of obtaining an Irish passport. "I did everything right and set myself up for success, and I've watched my entire career path crumble before my eyes," Gray told AFP. "I want to stay and serve the United States as a United States citizen," she said. "But if that option is not available to me, I need to keep all doors open."

They also BUTCHERED the spelling of America in Irish. I don't believe "Amurka" is a word at all. Which is weird because usually the Irish is not bad...

Google maps search for "gulf of mexico" on a google account that is set to Irish. Shows gulf na "amurka" which is not a word in Irish.
