I hate how unsupported I was as a undiagnosed AuDHD brown student. Reading was one of the only ways I actually enjoyed reading because the way how boring (or lack of dopamine hitting lessons for lack of better words) assignments were. I wish I was seen as struggling immensely instead of giving up.
"Recalling back to elementary school and how I was on a low AR (Accelerated Reading) reading score (I was on a Green color level, equivalent was a 3rd/4th grade level) and I tried desperately to increase my score because I wanted to read books that actually interested me and not small basic books and no matter what, I never got to my actual grade level that's how shitty the American literacy is that even they won't allow students who actually wanted to read books higher than their own grade level".
