Looks like it’s in great shape as well. Bummer you won’t get to try it out.

Curvy. I have a Hermes 2000 as well. I’ll make a post about those two soon.

I need to double check my notes but I believe it’s Senatorial. My Hermes 3000 is Techno pica.

Love it! My parents did the same. When we buy “off brand” (what my oldest calls generic), we remind him that he’s welcome to buy the $4-6 name brand with his own money. Love your approach better.

Congratulations! You’ve got this.

Handsome boy!

Thanks! Although I was nervous when I started, it was surprisingly easy to disassemble.

Thanks for sharing the story behind this brand! Interesting history. Love the tweed like styling of the case. How is the typing action? Is it similar to other German machines (ie, Olympia)?

I agree! It’s a joy to use.

Replacing the starwheel is definitely not the easiest task. I have a 1963 Hermes 3000 and 1958 Hermes 2000. It’s amazing the variation in typing (snappy vs buttery smooth). Both are amazing machines. How about you?

I’ve always wanted to add one of these to my Hermes collection. Love the batwing-esque ribbon covers.

I’ve never seen one of those before. Sounds like a fantastic ultraportable. “Laptapper” gave me a laugh.

Thanks for sharing the wisdom of your grandfather. Sorry to hear that you’re dealing with a layoff. I experienced that several years ago and it can be a gut punch. Make sure to take time to sift, identify what is important, what you have now that you value, and what you would like in the next job.

I’d be happy to be added to the list. I hope to use Blue Sky to connect more instead of just FB and Reddit groups and forums.

Great find! I’ll have to check out Toronto Typewriters.

That’s a great looking Olympia. I bet it types like a dream. Love the stickers as well.

That looks like a prestige machine. How does it type?

Gorgeous! What a beautiful place to run and roam as well.
