There is already a difference between how fans of anime (and anime/manga style media) strongly parasocially identify with character, whereas that behavior is much less common for fans of other types of media

Tbh I think there'll always be some kind of hardship that humans want to find escapism from (even if it's just natural decay and death) and we'll each identify strongly with certain fictional narratives, but the type of fantasies people create would be different in a better society

I really wish the tickets weren't assigned by lottery and instead they had more showtimes to accommodate the demand for the concert, but it is what it is...

In summary, I really appreciate how CG plays with putting cute girls in sports and school narratives that are typically gendered masculine, even though it's inspired by a gacha game with self-insert vibes and therefore it's at least a little of a creative risk to make the girls look "unpalatable"

Oguri not noticing the petty gossipy bullying but definitely noticing coming in second place feels like it's playing with audience expectations, just like the fact that she's the protag while the more feminine underdog Belno Light isn't
Oguri starts *great* at racing and is unapologetic about it
