Who makes the selection to be voted on? The chair? Or can anyone on the council nominate someone?

Again? She needs to try and thwart the will of DC voters on the way out too? Does she have that little faith in her chosen successor?

Forget replacing the can, they can probably just add a sensor to the can for the notifications and that'd cost considerably less...

While I have concerns with AVs I don't think you will win any hearts and minds by attacking Waymo AVs, which unlike Tesla have shown a focus on Saftey.

Yes AVs may help, but transit is doing it now. Let's prioritize AV investment in bus/trains to fuel transit w/ lower costs/higher reliability.

Way less alarmist. It already takes extra days to get the final one due to the mail in rules, this is not really special. Most races won't come down to that wire.

I think there are many factors playing in here. As noted above a lot more 401k vs pensions. Also younger folks are spending a lot more time in school and building up before starting a "career"

Milage fees have always been a 3rd rail due to drivers demanding privacy, but there is no privacy issue for waymo. They should be charged for every minute they're on city roads.

Don't disagree about the electoral cowardice but sometimes that leads to the right decision - afterall that is part of the goal of democracy 😅

Disagree. He has all the rights he is entitled to as a CM. CMs have no obligation include him in anything else.

It's a fair balance of respecting the will of the voters who knew while still keeping him at arms length because he's a crook.

Also expelling him will just end up in the same place.
