Every game dev has made at least one settings menu full of jokes. It's an important release valve.

I'm transporting a car across the country for my father in-law this weekend. It's fun finding equivalent distances, like driving from Portugal to Paris.
These absolute units were waiting at a rest stop, the bull is taller than me before the horns.

Train! Still impressed with this one, but we need more in SA, for everyone.

Every time I fly this rail taunts me. One day I'll pack my skates as carry-on.

Shrinkwrapped vanilla, I think I won it in some RTS competition in the mid 2000s.

Went for a walk today. Pictures don't do the waterfall justice. It tumbles down a massive cliff to end in a grotto swimming hole, showered by drips from the moss-covered walls.

Our kid seems to have gotten up in the middle of the night to write: DNA -> ? Later

Tomorrow's going to be interesting.

I took a student loan to import an Alienware Area51-m to South Africa in 2004. The "logic" was I needed a high end machine, but was moving around all the time between uni, work and not really living at a fixed address. Learned how to take it apart, kept it running for ages. Absolutely loved it.

Played the Desktop Dungeons daily today, I had completely forgotten about Half-dragons interacting with plants! Petrifying things and then smacking plants into them feels great. They used to be able to generate infinite piety too, but we fixed that...

Went to a scone place over the weekend where ducks and chickens wander around ready to do crimes. Took this pic specifically for @chrisdeleon.bsky.social

Yup! I have actually used this system for a deckbuilder, prototyping Desktop Dungeons 2 a while back. Extended it in some interesting ways and some hacky ones. Previewing event outcomes, true values on cards, modifiable costs, replays, etc. It uses self-contained "effects" a lot. Fun to work with.

Dog would like everyone to know that she apologises for her previous behaviour and is glad that the wheel pact is still being adhered to.

My wife is away on holiday and found this material in a craft store.

I found some. Perfectly regular sized, nothing weird about them at all.

Diving into some weekend work and I find this waiting on my desk <3

Thanks!

I do have some pretty good programmer socks tho.

It's a completely uncommercial thing that makes interesting artifacts and redefines spaces in a way that I've never done with a game before. I like wondering how to make it better.

But I don't know how to square this sort of game with what indie dev is these days. It feels too hopeful, too silly.
