Was there a Haasterplan today?

I think it might be better for Lawson. His confidence was nowhere last week. Maybe he'd have gotten used to the car, but if not, it would just have continued hurting his confidence. He can get back on track in the VCARB.

Not sure how Yuki will fare, but at least he has more experience.

The right to review has been upheld! Antonelli has been promoted to P4. Mercedes presented the roll hoop camera as ‘new evidence’ which was unavailable to the stewards. They deemed there was enough room when Antonelli crossed into the fast lane and it wasn’t unsafe. #F1 #AusGP

2/2
- Nailed the strategy: McLaren (P1,P9), Mercedes (P3,P5), Williams (P4), AM (P6), Sauber (P7)
- Did not nail the strategy: Red Bull (P2), Alpine (P11)
- Disaster: Ferrari (P8, P10), RB (P12)
- Threw shit at the wall because the car is a tractor: Haas (P13, P14)

5 Tsunoda: Continuation of last year. Beat own teammate and Red Bull's second seat
4 Russell: solid
3 Verstappen: solid, was clearly searching for the limits all quali though
2 Piastri &
1 Norris: Both solid, helped by a rocket of a car.

10 Sainz: might need to get used to that Williams...
9 Gasly: solid
8 Hamilton: solid, but Leclerc was more solid
7 Leclerc: solid. Also was in the pits for the last lap for some reason. Why Ferrari?
6 Albon: Williams going for P5 it seems? P4 is doubtful, but both cars in Q3

15 Bortoleto: had a big moment, but P15 may have been the maximum anyway
14 Doohan: did amazingly well (better than Gasly in Q1), but got f'ed over by a yellow flag
13 Stroll: solid
12 Alonso: solid
11 Hadjar: solid, especially for a rookie

-Red Bull leaving out the drivers when the rain came in was a big mistake. It may or may not have cost Verstappen a win, but for Lawson it led to a crash on slick tires.
- Ferrari...was a disaster strategically. So was VCARB. Poor drivers.
- Haas was absolutely nowhere, but at least they finished?

- McLaren was a rocket and they did a solid job strategically, but the team orders issue clearly isn't resolved.
- Mercedes, Aston, Williams & Sauber managed to make the most out of an eventful race with their solid strategies.
- Alpine had a decent strategy, but didn't manage to benefit.

I felt Eng was missing some pace, but not sure. He did do a lot of stints and kept in the race for a podium.

KMag was fast, but needs to get used to the tire management. His tires sometimes died before the end of the stint, which caused him to drop back towards the end of a stint.

Dries Vanthoor was from what I've seen the fastest driver of the team overall. I was really impressed by his pace. Sadly he messed up pretty badly on his last stint - dropping the #24 off the podium.

I only saw one stint from Marciello, but there he also was pretty quick. He did a great job.

It's probably not the end of the disHaasters though. I do hope the team learns from this season and works on their strategy & pit stops.

I'll continue commenting on the Haas team in 2025, but I'll also be following my fav drivers - so expect Sauber/Audi & Endurance posts too.

3/4 With that, the 2024 season comes to an end, and with it, our iconic Haas duo. They are replaced by Ocon and Bearman. Hulk moves to Sauber and KMag will join WEC or IMSA

P7 is a disappointing result when P6 seemed so close, but consering that they hoped to be in P8, it's a result to be proud of.

2/4 KMag got stuck behind Stroll, which killed his tires. Then he made an extra pit stop and Bottas locked up and collided with KMag.

KMag did set a fastest lap record for Yas Marina Grand Prix Circuit, the best feasible goodbye for Haas' longest-serving driver.

2/2 As for Hulk's penalty: it was justified, but highlights the problem of being in the first pit box. If cars queue up, the Haas cars can't leave the pits. It's a major disadvantage, as they have to go first or risk going last.

I hope there'll be a rule change to fix this issue.
