Haha yes always supporting some underdogs (as well as classics)! Kanthapura is def an outlier but it’s rly good — told from the perspective a female villager amidst Gandhi’s campaign for independence

It honestly is just a self-perpetuating cycle and it all starts with both access to education and class (ie money buys entries into elite schools which further enhances the initial divide, etc)

I mean I feel like rn there aren’t many aestheticizations of COVID bc we all just want to move on and I think the Spanish Flu might be similar. You should check out Woolf’s essay on this — I think it’s called ‘On Illness’
