Text which states: We are very concerned about the cuts to disability benefits announced by the Government yesterday in their Green Paper. Every day, we speak to disabled people really struggling with the cost of living and paying for essentials. Disability benefits are already incredibly difficult to access, and the government should not be seeking to save money at the expense of the welfare of disabled people. DLS CEO Andrew Mackay said, “The announced cuts to disability benefits are very worrying. We urge the Government to rethink its proposals. Disabled people need better health and social care, accessible housing, accessible workplaces and disability benefits that will not push us into poverty. We stand with the Disability Benefits Consortium in condemning the changes and support Scope’s campaign to stop the cuts. To speak out against the cuts, you can write to your MP and respond to the consultation. If you are interested in helping DLS campaign on issues like this, and supporting clients affected by these cuts, you could also consider joining DLS as a Trustee". If the government goes ahead with the announced changes to disability benefits, it won’t be until 2026 or later, and there will be some protections for people already claiming disability benefits. DLS provides free legal advice to disabled people in England and Wales.

When it comes to inclusion, neurodiversity refers to a world where neurological differences are recognised and respected as all other human variations.

Local authorities have a duty under S6, Care Act 2014 to co-operate with each of its relevant partners in exercising their respective functions in relation to the care and support of an individual.

This may involve liaising with NHS services and the police.
