I’m looking forward to the Dallas Paleo Society’s annual #Fossilmania event in Glen Rose, Texas this weekend! They’ve always got a bunch of interesting stuff there, plus they usually do a guided tour of the Paluxy River dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park.

Despite containing the Cedar Hill Museum inside, the new Traphene Hickman Library didn’t have any books on prehistoric sea life, so I donated a copy of @tetzoo.bsky.social’s #AncientSeaReptiles! I also wrote a review of the book, which you can read here:

Despite containing the Cedar Hill Museum inside, the new Traphene Hickman Library didn’t have any books on prehistoric sea life, so I donated a copy of @tetzoo.bsky.social’s #AncientSeaReptiles! I also wrote a review of the book, which you can read here:

I received what is likely my final “Everything Dinosaur” order for a while. 🥲 I appreciate the excellent service they’ve provided over the years. Hopefully this stupid tariff situation doesn’t last too long.

Hot take: I disagree with anyone who says that “the Irish Elk wasn’t really an elk”.
If Europeans call Moose “Elk”, and Americans call Wapati “Elk”, then as far as I’m concerned “Elk” just means “bigass deer”, and Megaloceros is comfortably in “Elk” territory.

Small victories: I’ve been worried that I’ve let my brain atrophy with too much social media, so I’m pleased to say I just finished a semi-technical book in the form of David Weishampel’s “Transylvanian Dinosaurs”, having read it over the course of the last few weeks.
