Interests and education in Science/engineering/economics fields, but mostly post about politics at the moment. Not revealing personal details. Salmon looks cool and I like cooking it, thus the name and picture.
Not surprising at all, actually. Lots of Sanders people doing the "class above everything, woke is a neoliberal distraction" types were doing this sort of thing since 2016. Screenshot is an example from earlier this year.

I'd personally lump a lot of Sanders people (call them Berniebros, red-brown, etc.) in with centrist types as a type of left punchers. Can see a friendly interaction between examples of each below. Both complain about "woke", are personally a$$holes often, like problematic politicians, etc.

Nope. Chapter ends after the screenshot.

she talks about lots of other decisions like this. Describes that a problem exists, feels for it/understand it, never mentions a solution even if well known.

Screenshotted below. Another nice quote. Chapter ends after that final paragraph.

Resentful, insecure pundit types are resenting and insecuring, part some large number. Explains how dirtbag left and centrist can come together against the out of touch lefty DNC shills on Bluesky.

A more banal, day to day explanation/contribution (Since all these motivations can be happening at the same time and bleed into each other), is insecure assholes people who want to be seen as good people like to tear others down, are attracted to conflict and resentment, etc. Bluesky is designed to

how great educated, activist, younger, etc. people are*. Typical reactions of "these words aren't used often" or "these are just academic words" agrees with the unstated idea that there is something wrong with the words, and that academics/activists/fanfiction forum people/etc. are weird and bad.

votes come in from elsewhere. The "moderates"/"Center left" (like Candidly tiff) in the screenshots are obvious either being dishonest or supporting horseshit, and have been since 2016-18, they should have been getting shut down immediately instead of becoming a regular talking point.

There are a number of explanation for why black voters vote certain ways, (Missing in the screenshot is "Seeing how white voters will go".) A lot of them seem like repeated opinions/people's guesses, not based on rigorous research or good, solid personal experience.

Support for older democrats who are dropping the ball. Maybe Hillary Clinton (who lost), possibly Biden (Maybe he was the only one country would have picked in a close election, but lots of obvious bad decisions in office). Sometimes black voters screw up, like any other group of voters.
June 22, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Kenyatta/Lamb.Fetterman have the same pattern. Kenyatta running as leftmost, support heavily black, least votes of three. Lamb running as centrist, support heavily white. Fetterman in the middle in both (at the time by politics). Commentary I saw didn’t focus on black voters, oddly. (Apart from

from taniel.bsky.social‬, who I should probably read more. boltsmag.org) Strangely, the punditry/commentary this thread is about has little to say on these races. Maybe they are just tired.

If you want the prog winning, here's a screenshot. (Velez and Tiff are a good source of screenshots.)

According to the screenshot on the right, Warren and Sanders didn't smile properly, weren't "relaxed" and therefore lost because of black voters.

Jamaal bowman's '22 primary opponent must have smiled right, since Bowman had more black support. Strangely, same commenter doesn't think its a problem.
June 22, 2025 at 11:52 PM
But despite what a lot of commentary says, black voters:

-often lose dem primaries
-Have no issues with lefty politicians overall
-Often make bad decisions
-A lot, maybe most commentary supporting black voters in this way is dishonest.

Black voters thread:

bsky.app/profile/chan...

Black voters in social media and commentary are routinely used as an excuse to support corruption, left punching, incompetence, poor policy. Other commentary says that decide elections, that you should support who they support, or similar.

wing people who do this. How many policies that work, or look like they would work, get undermined as "impractical" or "We can't do that" or "Have to go slow/be incremental?" Gets in the way and slows things down.

Oh yes, and can't forget what happens when progressives run in primaries.
April 26, 2025 at 10:57 PM
As others have pointed out, this is laughable, Cuomo loves to tell people what to do, including voters. Other politicians doing the conservadem thing also do this. But the comment does point to a real attitude people have.

Right wing policies and politicians get a lot of leeway. As do "default"
April 24, 2025 at 9:10 AM
But Hancox-Li and co, including lots of other pundits, instead spend lots of time attacking the left. Bitching about how they "went too far", complaining about Gaza protestors, about how proposals are "impractical". (I've noticed the opposite, the leftist proposals are usually much better

to define what words actually mean. Often, arguments about policy are used to cover other reason for arguing, making them seem more intellectual/justified.

How does all this apply to "liberalism" and fighting?

If you heard that someone opposed Cuomo because of sexual harassment, supported

Saw this reposted by a couple people I follow, could use a response.

Short version: The fighting ideology she is imagining exists, but it is called "the left" now. The way of thinking called "liberalism" isn't going anywhere, because its supporters spend too much time opposing "the left".

Heck of a contrast, as others have pointed out.

Similar hate for other dems running as progressives (Katie Porter in particular I've noticed), anyone younger, anyone running on left policies, etc. Also really hateful towards Palestinians or Gaza.

If anyone actually reads this, it all probably looks silly/ridiculous. Natural response is to

...someone who hadn't supported Republicans for decades. Plus a bunch of other nonsense. And yes, these Khive types were doing this after the primary. And no, they were not going after Klobuchar or Buttigieg, or the Liz Cheney endorsement, or Ralph Northam or other dems who used to vote R.

Hakeem Jeffries. Or get angry at any criticism of Jeffries. Not sure if a primary was planned, but Jeffries has.....not acquitted himself well recently.
