Now through 12/31/25, Kent State University Press is having a 60th anniversary sale.

Enter the code KSUP60 at checkout and receive 40% off plus free shipping. They have books on Tolkien, C.S Lewis, and the Inklings. Obviously, my book is there, but there's also FIVE by Verlyn Flieger. #tolkien

One of the things we’ve noticed working on HoMe Base is that Christopher Tolkien uses “noticed” where we would expect “noted”. He often describes “noticing” something but he doesn’t mean perceiving it but actually noting it elsewhere in the books.

A long post from something I am working on for my next book, which will treat the Great Tales and (what I think of as) the Great Themes, Death/Immortality, Fate/Free Will, Divine Justice/Problem of Evil in the years before Tolkien began The Lord of the Rings.

One of the saddest parts of the Lost Tales frame narrative is how snubbed Eltas is!
