Very excited to watch Modern Magic at #PTEOE. I'm having a hard time predicting the field with no clear meta pick, but I'm expecting a field mainly split between RW Energy (low prep needed, consistent lines, and boards pretty well), UR Prowess (good answers, explosive, but highly sequenced), and...

I would've liked this art in a Return to Battlebond set, but such is life

I've created a spreadsheet compiling any free written MTG primers/guides/sideboard guides that I come across. I love the sharing of knowledge that happens in this community and want to do my part!

"Maybe Deathrite Shaman is a card that will get played for the next half dozen years or more" is a technically true take. It's amazing it lasted 6 years in Legacy after rightfully getting nuked in it's Modern infancy.

Working through old mtg tournament coverage and PT RTR had so many decks attacking on different angles. Breakfast and Infect is my favorite example of decks playing past each other. One fiddles cards for an hour, one counts to 10 and I love every second of it.

My Youtube algo comes up with old Magic events every once in a while., and today it's Abzan vs Titan from the 2016 world championship. I love that Titan is still kicking it at the top of modern a decade later, now with even better cards m.youtube.com/watch?v=33nN...

I like organizing more than I like updating the decklists for their banned cards. Still multiple players of mycospawns but I sure as shit can find 'em

Sample pack from a 4-player cube I've been working on. It's newbie-friendly so the mechanics are relatively low in complexity and avoids wordier cards. My favorite piles so far have been "mono red" aggro piles that stitch a wide band of mechanics together with hybrid mana.

I should not be nearly as annoyed as I am over the "Animal May-Ham" ability. That is the weirdest assemblage of "animals" that excludes a HUGE amount of magic animals and makes no sense whatsoever. This is an Un-card with an ability of random words that doesn't even support the standard format...

Vorthosers: do we know what this claw belongs to? I'm not recognizing the hand from any of the species in the stories or set types so far. #Vorthos

Been getting heavy into Spirit Island after way too long of a time away from the game. There's too much replayability for its own good, but I would be perfectly content if the rest of my plays were just this spirit scaring colonists so badly they get lost in a liminal space for a bit.

It's been a long time since I wrote anything that wasn't about DNA, but with Spiderman on the horizon to join the many creatures of Magic: the Gathering, I thought it'd be fitting to ramble a bit about my favorite bit of disconnect in creature design www.dietdrew.com/2025/07/the-...

I have a hard time imagining how a single Magic card could ever exist.

There are roughly 27,000 unique Magic cards and counting. It seems impossible that even one exists at all.

This looks like such a sweet slot-in to the bevy of modern decks that capitalize on a density of 7-drops for Ugin's Labyrinth (fitting). Innate removal, draw, mana and an ultimate that will set you up for the long game. Eldrazi ramp is gonna be eating good.

unlocked an MTG Arena easter egg today. If you cast Stone Rain on turns 3, 4, and 5, it activates your opponent's mic and your speakers so you can hear them yelling "fuck you!" repeatedly

The art for Astelli Reclaimers has me hooked for #MTGeternities. The aesthetic of angels in space is exactly the sell I need for fantasy+scifi fusion. My wishlist for the set is now angels, goblins/dragons, merfolk, zombies, and elves in space. I want some OG type lines with crunchy weird stuff
At the "Edge" of the Blind Eternities, there is a space system that is full of people and worlds never before seen by players. #MTGEternities

Reflecting on the #MTG Aetherdrift file as it gets spoiled, I'm optimistic for the remaining cards but I don't like "Start Your Engines" / "Max speed" for a few reasons. 1) I find un-interactbile game objects like emblems unfun. 2) The mechanic feels disjointed from the theme. Using life loss as...
