Afternoon running about a national trust place, we may not have seen the deer but we did have a packed lunch & played billy goats gruff (our lads favourite book atm)

Midway through this & debating giving up. It was advertised as a folk horror & it’s definitely not. The plot is interesting just at 200 pages out of 500 it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere & has forgotten the horror/creepy elements. Also can’t figure out how old the characters are?
