This image from the PHI instrument shows that there are currently different magnetic polarities (north and south) present at the south pole. This happens when the Sun’s magnetic field flips.

In this work, led by Dr. Dibya Kirti Mishra @dibya96.bsky.social, we used observations of the Sun in the Ca II K line from Kodaikanal in India and Rome in Italy to reconstruct solar polar magnetic fields back to 1904.
