Self-employed. That means there's no boss to see when I'm reading a book instead of doing my transcription. Unfortunately, it also means there's no money in my paycheck because I was busy reading books instead of doing that transcription.
Unfortunately, I think he has proven that he can. SCOTUS gave him the power and he has congress and senate too terrified to do anything.

He is a blathering idiot...but he is brilliant in his manipulation and he has managed to become the biggest mobster in the world.

When I was scrolling, I thought you were making that delicious rainbow bread I buy in in my bakery and I was intrigued. Then I looked closer.

They are still very beautiful, but now I'm really craving rainbow bread. Or any good bread, because, duh. Bread!

Oh, and my Banned Books Book Club at my public library (in a small town in northeast Ohio) is reading My Sister's Keeper.

Since I'm the Stephen King guru of the group, every October I pick one of his books. I have chosen 11-22-63 and The Dead Zone.

My favorite version of this book is the Pop-Up one. It is just so well done. Granted, they couldn't put all of the text in a pop-up book, so you still need to read the actual book, but as a supplement, it is just a delight.

But as I say for most banned books -- Why this??

I appreciate that article and it makes sense.

I'm in 5 book clubs in my public library a month. I'm also way down in the "ramen for dinner" income bracket. My books all come from the library. But I yammer on about books all the time, and then friends buy them.

Also, libraries mean not pirated.

I did the same with an ereader. (Got the Kobo Libra Colour.)

You'll be happy to hear that the first book that popped up on the library's website as a suggestion for me to borrow was Starter Villain.

But is it irritating to a novelist that I bought an ereader based on ease of library borrowing?

Last month, I heard about this while I was sitting in a Banned Books Book Club that was going on at the same time. As I left the library, I saw the demonstration and it made my heart glad. I was going to join in, but it was just ending as I was parking.

Congratulations, Dr. Oake! Go out and kick some asses and enlighten the masses.

As an American, I'm ashamed to say that table isn't nearly big enough. You need to see entire shelves -- actual libraries with nearly empty shelves -- because the rule is "books aren't banned, books have to be approved."

Thank you SO MUCH for confirming this. I saw somewhere someone saying that it only worked for other books and that broke my heart. My Oasis is on its last leg and I rarely buy. I want to be able to make notes for book club books. This will be perfect! Your picture seals the deal!

Ooh! Congratulations!! I hope the stories set your honorary judge robes all aflutter.

Everyone in the church will be saying "God bless you" and mean it.

Sunny is that "so cute that you can't be mad at her for being annoying" kind of cat. Just like most cats, I guess.

That perfectly sums up election day.

Oh my god. I envy that hair so much!

(Um, just to clarify. Hers. 😂)

Maybe Vance could go skiing in Tahoe. Try the ski run that Sonny Bono went down (literally and figuratively).
