Trying to position Kollontai relative to “feminism” in this unqualified sense shows a total lack of appreciation for the historical context and the ways in which these terms evolved over time.

going back over Friedman's A Parting of The Ways in preparation for discussing Neo-Kantianism during my book group meeting later today and ran into this funny anecdote of Carnap interacting with Heidegger at Davos that I had forgotten about.

I mean I tend to not believe in global truth for logical arguments. It’s obviously true in some logics and not others (as with all things). The more interesting question is are there useful logics that validate the argument, and to that my answer is “probably”.

I love him. Proofs and refutations is my favorite book of all time. He takes the occasional L like his critique of Carnap’s inductive logic is seriously confused, but on most issues I agree with him.

Unfortunately I’m only really familiar with his earlier mathematical work. I definitely ought to get around to his philosophy of science and metaphysics. If there’s anything in particular you think I should check out I’d be very interested.
