One obvious response to this - especially today - is that we need the humanities for science. Less obvious, but no less important, is that we need science to have the humanities.
This is why I support freedom of expression.

Appropriately, it is the chaos of a system that supports free speech that gives rise to the grand process of democratic self-governance and the ideally upward arc of human progress and flourishing.

Last month I attended Association of South East Studies UK International PhD Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand. While I am a first timer in area studies, I gained a lot of great inputs for my doctoral study, particularly as spatial methodologies remain understudied in public participation.

Last week I represented @casaucl.bsky.social at @rgsibg.bsky.social’s Postgraduate Mid-Term Conference by presenting my doctoral study in the Geographies of Citizenship session. Definitely special as I got interesting inputs and encouragement for my upgrade viva next week!

It’s been long overdue (~1 month!) but I presented my initial findings in Social Media Geopolitics session at #AAG2025 in Detroit last month—all thanks to @casaucl.bsky.social Doctoral Student Conference Fund. My study revolves on digital participation in Jakarta, using government-app called Qlue.
