2/ That is behind this duo of price indexes over long stretches of time. The great rise in labor productivity in manufacturing and farming is why we're so much better off on average. It's also why we spend a larger fraction of our income on services, and why those services are more expensive.

I went to a Forest Service website to check something out and saw the "radical left" banner. At a minimum, every senior administrator at the Forest Service will be summarily fired under the next Democratic administration. This is a criminal act and I would hope to see prosecutions as well.

Who would have thought that a politically sensible administration would do something terrible that is so concentrated on its own constituents. Who would have thought that those voters would vote for an administration that so callously disregards their economic interests (and broadcast that to them).

Saw the formal US premiere of Kayhan Kalhor's "Venus in the Mirror" last night, which he said he wrote for the women of Iran during a troubled time. It's a double concerto for cello and kamancheh (Iranian spiked fiddle). He also wrote the piece to celebrate 25 years of friendship with Yo-Yo Ma.

Bring it on! This is an example of packing AND splitting. Pack red votes into the two mountain districts, and split densely blue precincts in NoVa, Richmond, and in the urban areas of the peninsula and Norfolk region to make everything else blue.
