Read this book in middle, my HS’er read this book in middle school. Watched the movie together. Got to see it live on stage tonight. Second act absolutely wrecked me. Seeing it with my senior was so bittersweet- coming of age for all of us is hard. What a beautiful play.

In Honor of Veteran’s Day. My dad (a USAF veteran) passed away last spring. Going through his boxes and found this photo of my grandfather, France 1944, with a note for my grandmother on the back.

About to step into the new(est) classroom for the 24th year tomorrow. We’ve scrubbed, copied, cut bulletin board pieces and attended PD’s and we finally get to teach. Wishing all of the teachers (and their families) in my life a wonderful new year, filled with rewarding moments. It’s time to shine ❤️

Re-watching Monuments Men. Thinking about what I felt the first time I saw this movie versus the lens of 2025. Anyway, I finally got to see the Ghent Altarpiece this summer and it was all that was promised. We used to be the good guys.

The state of NC should be ashamed of itself. No teachers should have to apply for SNAP bc they refuse to split our paychecks. Bc starting teachers make $41,000. Bc they’re doubling our healthcare costs.

I’ve never been sadder to come home from a vacation. Au revoir France, you’re beautiful, your people are warm and kind, your northern coastline is breathtaking and I love that you’ve saved (even) the ruins. Thank you for letting us make it home for a few weeks! ❤️

Spent the day with my kids visiting the D-Day memorials. Teaching them about when their grandfather fought Fascists.

That’s my grandfather on leave before becoming one of the “boys of Normandy.” His father was a migrant camp minister in California. I am sure he would be fine with everyone (especially immigrants) being given due process and allowed their Constitutional rights.

My admin and pta are amazing. But also, is it teacher appreciation week in Chapel Hill without a Merritt’s BLT? It’s always better to teach when BLT’s are involved.

We’re in the perfect four weeks in Chapel Hill. Warm during the day, cool at night, the bugs aren’t out yet, it’s Strawberry season at the farmers market and my roses are soaking it all up. ❤️

Happy Last Day of Class to everyone who celebrates in Chapel Hill. We had some YoPo and sat outside to enjoy this weather.

Absolutely gorgeous night in Chapel Hill. Love people watching around graduation (it’s a see of Carolina Blue tonight). Of all the places we’ve lived… this is the best. ❤️

Watching things get torn apart is gut wrenching. one thought - NP Rangers are the keepers of all the American things- the artifacts, the stories, the legends. When you go to Independence Hall they know every story about every object. Which thing Washington touched. we’re losing the history keepers.

This is a seriously over optimistic set of predictions. It’s already impacting districts here, see below:

We’ve always been this country… (direct line from the founding to not voting for “that woman.”) (Also, I guess “The Scarlet Letter” is woke.)

Bad stuff happening right now but also beautiful things… sun coming up in Chapel Hill rarely disappoints

Timing on this one was impeccable (and that was completely by accident). ❤️💔

It’s been over 1000 days since we’ve had snow in Chapel Hill. I’ve never seen so many people joyful about a winter storm. Bring it on, I guess. #recoveringnewenglander
