This was the HQ of Forever 21 (RIP), and featured the largest rooftop solar installation in Los Angeles when it was installed in 2015 by Permacity: 5.1 MW of Sunpower panels. Today workers began dismantling it, panel by panel. 🔌💡

The worst is the thick choking smoke that makes it nasty to go outside and blocks the sun, creating a gloomy orange filtered darkness. It's surreal to have this happen in January, when it's cold too. Last we had anything similar was summer 2020, and it was dense heat.

Dark day in LA. I'm fine, sitting by my air filter and house hasn't lost power yet, just a few flickers. But it's been a rough morning! Schools cancelled, wife's in person meeting cancelled, power out at in-laws in Eagle Rock. It sounds like about 400,000 have power down right now.
