Some birds at Melbourne's Western Treatment Works. It's possibly the best birding site I've ever been to. Australian crake, red kneed dotterel, sharp-tailed sandpiper and Australian pelican.

Today's offerings from Victoria, Australia: dusky wood swallow, diamond fire tail, striated pardalote and wedge-tailed eagle

Today's best bird photos in Victoria, Australia. Yellow tufted honeyeater, Australasian darter and hooded robin and it's fledgling.

I'm spending three weeks in south-east Australia with a birding pal from my childhood. Almost all natives are ticks for me. Some pictures from my first two days. White-plumed honeyeater, yellow robin, fairy wren and galah.

We went to Ogmore Est. this pm to walk the dogs and see a red-breasted merganser that was found today(Paul Roberts). It was probably the same bird seen briefly at Kenfig Pool earlier(Neil Donaghy). Two bar-tailed godwits were nice to see too. @neild1962.bsky.social @glamorganbirdclub.bsky.social

An evening dog walk at Kenfig produced a spotted flycatcher and male Kestrel. No luck seeing either the glossy ibis or hobby though @glamorganbirdclub.bsky.social

I made a quick trip today to see a buff-breasted sandpiper and American golden plover in the same field near Camber Sands. They weren't easy to see in the brisk wind and heat haze. I didn't even try to photograph the hyperactive BBS.

A fairly quiet seawatch off Dungeness this morning. Dark-bellied Brent goose the highlight with pintail, teal, wigeon, common scoter, 2 common terns and several Arctic skuas. Greenpeace's 'Rainbow Warrior' passed in the distance. @greenpeaceuk.bsky.social @dungenessbirdobs.bsky.social

Some recent pictures from the Porthcawl area this week. I'm trying to learn how to quickly crop in camera then send to phone and out to social media.

We were lucky today, chancing upon our first Adonis blue whilst stopping to eat sandwiches at Seven Sisters Country Park, Eastbourne. I didn't have bins or camera but thankfully was able to grab a shot with my phone.
