42 species seen on a club trip around Cosmeston this morning. Highlights were Siskin, Fieldfare, Redwing [many], a feeding flock with Long-tailed, Coal, Blue, and Gt Tits, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest & Treecreeper [and Yellow-browed Wblr - only 1 obs saw it :-(]. Don't forget there's a live indoor meeting at Pencoed Rugby Club on Tues [7th Oct], 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs room. Club member David Rich will be giving us an illustrated talk about his many birding visits to the USA. It'll be v interesting.

24 Aug - 22 members went to Peterston Moors [R. Ely floodplain]. The target of Green Sand was 'ticked' - 5, poss 8 seen in flight. Other h'lights - Red Kite, Stock Doves, Dipper, Grey Wag, GS Pecker ... #birdingWales. Good nos of butterflies.

Belated brief report of our field trip to Castell Nos on Sun 18th May, led by Ceri Jones and co-led by Alan Rosney. Highlights were 4 Cuckoos, Whinchat, Redpoll, Crossbill, Tree Pipit and Peregrine, out of 39 species seen. More detail here glamorganbirds.org.uk/2025/05/25/c...
